Ovulation Test - what is it and how the test is done

Starting a family is almost every couple’s dream. However, some couples seem to struggle with conceiving a baby independently.

While it is not always obvious what might be the cause behind this delay, it is always safe and smart to be aware of all the important factors that make the bodies of both males and females more responsive to conceiving.

In males, the sperms need to be of optimal quality. In contrast, in females, the time of ovulation must be matched perfectly to the time of copulation as it automatically increases the chances of conceiving even more.

A female in her ovulation phase is more likely to get pregnant than a female who is not ovulating. This is determined using a urine test that evaluates the level of Luteinizing Hormone (LH) in your body and suggests the right time for you to conceive.

Whether a test comes out to be positive or negative determines if you can have intercourse at that given time of the month to increase your chances of getting pregnant faster.

Progesterone Test FAQs

The best time to take an ovulation test is with the second morning urine at noon. It tests LH levels. Usually, the menstrual cycle is of 28-days, and the ovulation test is done 10 or 14 days after starting your period. If your cycle is a different length or irregular, talk to your doctor about when you should take a test.

Read the instructions on the kit carefully. The test stick is inserted into the test holder, and allow it to beep while it's ready; then, place the absorbent tip of the test stick in your urine stream for 5 to 7 seconds. You can also collect a sample of your urine in a clean, dry container and dip the absorbent tip of the test stick into the model for 15 seconds.

It helps in family planning and assessing hormone levels. It also makes a woman self-aware of her menstrual health and fertility.
